So sad。 This world lost its shine in this book。 For one thing, it seems to spread too thin, covering too many communities in different cities/settlements, such that the characters I’d come to love seemed to get lost。 They flattened out, from 3D to blah。 And the action? Most of this book was just waiting disaster, better stockpile now, what’s gonna happen, with little actually going on。 That was sort of true for the other books, but was fine with me as I loved the characters so much。 Since the ch So sad。 This world lost its shine in this book。 For one thing, it seems to spread too thin, covering too many communities in different cities/settlements, such that the characters I’d come to love seemed to get lost。 They flattened out, from 3D to blah。 And the action? I don’t know。 I didn’t find them to be creditable villains in this story。 At this point I’ll probably still read the last book of the series because I have to, but I don’t hold out much hope。 。。。more

OMG this book what an emotional roller coaster this book takes you on。 I think i was tense throughout this book。 My heart broke in places, and there was a tear or two。The market scene was so intense poor MacDonald and Crystal。 I am happy Nathan was OK。 I love the elemental's they are badass and they really do seem to think a lot of Meg。 They are willing to help the terra indigene and spare the humans under their protection, and i think this is mainly due to Meg。 She could change the world withou OMG this book what an emotional roller coaster this book takes you on。 I think i was tense throughout this book。 My heart broke in places, and there was a tear or two。The market scene was so intense poor MacDonald and Crystal。 I am happy Nathan was OK。 I love the elemental's they are badass and they really do seem to think a lot of Meg。 They are willing to help the terra indigene and spare the humans under their protection, and i think this is mainly due to Meg。 She could change the world without realising, just by being Meg。 So many good humans, Intuits and, terra indigene working together to try and stop the Elders from making all humans extinct。 Humans creating bombs and weapons to create mass slaughter of terra indigene。 There was hand over mouth, holding my breath tense moments in this book, it full on。 It was so hard to read the slaughter of Joe and his wolves, it was so well written but so sad。 HLF are the evil monsters in a world that is not ruled by humans。 I love this spin on this world。 I love how the communities are finding a way to work together and help, & support each other。 The Elders are interesting characters, they find Meg interesting and the future of the world seems to rest at her hands。 No pressure there for Meg。 The humans seem to have been mostly spared even some of those who don't deserve to live。 It will be interesting to see what happens next。 Will the Elders spare the remaining humans, i guess that is up to Meg & Lakeside especially the courtyard packs, including the human pack。 What is the future for Meg and Simon。 They are both innocent in this growing relationship, neither have any idea, but they are learning with each other, while at the same time baffling each other。 It is fun to read their interactions。 。。。more

This book wasn't as strong in character development as the previous books。 It felt like a filler book to catch up on what's been happening in the world outside the courtyard。 I did like how the wolves are adding more humans to their pack and to get a hint of the Others in the wild country。 There were a lot of new characters and it was a bit hard to keep everyone straight。That being said, it was interesting and I'm still looking forward to the next book in the series。 This book wasn't as strong in character development as the previous books。 It felt like a filler book to catch up on what's been happening in the world outside the courtyard。 I did like how the wolves are adding more humans to their pack and to get a hint of the Others in the wild country。 There were a lot of new characters and it was a bit hard to keep everyone straight。That being said, it was interesting and I'm still looking forward to the next book in the series。 。。。more

This author always has a men vs women and slightly adolescent way of writing。 It bothered me a bit more than usual in this book。 I think there's lots to like。 There's a huge emphasis on protecting and caring for people throughout all her books。 Bad guys always get their comeuppance。 Her books are always comforting in that way。 This author always has a men vs women and slightly adolescent way of writing。 It bothered me a bit more than usual in this book。 I think there's lots to like。 There's a huge emphasis on protecting and caring for people throughout all her books。 Bad guys always get their comeuppance。 Her books are always comforting in that way。 。。。more

The storm is building between the HFL and the earth natives and Meg is continuing to try to figure out how to help the other girls。 I like that all of the secondary characters are just as important as Simon and Meg。 Joe breaks my heart 💜。 The ending of this book is the sweetest yet!

Abby

Still enjoying the seriesThe author is excellent at world-building。 Can humans and non-humans find a way to live together, or is human extinction the only answer?

3。57 by the CAWPILE rating。 I love The Others series but there are a couple things bugging me。 It's a series so I don't need to be constantly reminded of what has happened in previous books or even previously in the current book。 Though that would be super helpful if one was reading them with a lot of time in between each book。 Another thing that threw me off is the need for everyone in the story to constantly have books, like they are more important than water or food。 I love books and sometime 3。57 by the CAWPILE rating。 I love The Others series but there are a couple things bugging me。 It's a series so I don't need to be constantly reminded of what has happened in previous books or even previously in the current book。 Though that would be super helpful if one was reading them with a lot of time in between each book。 Another thing that threw me off is the need for everyone in the story to constantly have books, like they are more important than water or food。 I love books and sometimes they are more important than eating to me but it really distracted from the storyline。 Everyone was making plans for disaster and then someone would need to send a box of books or go off to receive a book of books。 Like in every chapter。 Anyway I still love Meg, Simon and all The Others and will finish the series。 ✌️ 。。。more

For some reason I had a harder time with this book than the previous three in the series。 It's still good! Don't get me wrong, and I definitely enjoyed it。 But, I just had a hard time with the lengthy time spent describing the build up to the big finale。 I get that build up is important and I enjoy suspense as much as the next gal, but there reached a point where i was just thinking, "alright, let's get it over with already, enough build up。" But, like I said, still a good book and good series, For some reason I had a harder time with this book than the previous three in the series。 It's still good! I was a little bored by this one。 I think I enjoy these better when there’s a bit of a gap between them。。。 reading Marked in Flesh (almost) immediately after Vision in Silver meant the writing, in particular, got old pretty fast。 I’ll definitely read the next one (which is the last one, I think? Seems like #6 onwards are just spin-offs set in the same world。 I doubt I’ll read those。) but I’ll read a bunch of other books first, so it feels fresh and interesting again。

I read other reviews and agreed with public opinion of most points。 The flipping from so many characters perspectives and the yawn of the action in the plot left this one flat for me。 It felt like an episode filler drawing the story forward instead of driving the characters into new territory。 I think had there been some insights of the elders and expanded their identity it would have been better。 I don't have the romance thirst many have for meg and simon。 So the lackluster plot dynamics this o I read other reviews and agreed with public opinion of most points。 The flipping from so many characters perspectives and the yawn of the action in the plot left this one flat for me。 It felt like an episode filler drawing the story forward instead of driving the characters into new territory。 I think had there been some insights of the elders and expanded their identity it would have been better。 I don't have the romance thirst many have for meg and simon。 So the lackluster plot dynamics this one really fell short for me。 。。。more

Meg and Simon have become pretty minor characters in this one but everything else going on kept me on the edge of my seat。 This series didn't end up being what I expected with Meg and Simon's relationship (which doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast), however, I've become invested in several of the other characters and their places in this world reorganization。 If someone was reading this series for romance, they'd be real disappointed。 Meg and Simon have become pretty minor characters in this one but everything else going on kept me on the edge of my seat。 This series didn't end up being what I expected with Meg and Simon's relationship (which doesn't seem to be going anywhere fast), however, I've become invested in several of the other characters and their places in this world reorganization。 If someone was reading this series for romance, they'd be real disappointed。 。。。more

Anne Bishops others series is one of my book guilty pleasures! The author rules in the character development department and makes you love each individual character even with multiple storylines happening。 Marked in flesh was one of the more action packed books in the series with a lot of buildup finally coming to a dramatic end!

I think this may be my favorite book in the series so far。 I have enjoyed watching all of these characters grow throughout this series and watching the relationships that have been formed between them。 This is just a series you have to read to appreciate it, I don't think it's possible to truly explain it someone who has never read it。 These books are just so good!

I’m shocked。 I’ve only ever given the books in this series 4 stars because I’ve always felt like they were missing something。 What? Who knows。 Just something。 Not the case with Marked in Flesh。 This book had everything I love about paranormal books, plus some。 Definitely my favorite so far。
